Unless you have been living under a rock your entire life, then you are probably aware of the current circumstances we are living in. Not only are people of color being discriminated against, but their lives are in danger every single day. Here are a few ways that you can support your community in the fight for justice and equality as well as the world as a whole.

Start Conversations
One of the biggest things that I have seen people struggle with is simply speaking their truth and being considerate enough to listen to someone else. If you hear someone speaking in a negative way about anything, you need to listen to what they are saying. Although you may not feel the same way, it could be that they are not aware or educated on a certain topic. Opening up conversations can bring us all closer together. It is beneficial for mental health as well as understanding each other. Keep conversations healthy and let’s make a difference in how we communicate with each other.
Support Small Businesses
In the current situation we are in, it is more important than ever to support small businesses. Especially those owned by minorities. Many consumers are not reaching out to them because their prices may be higher or whatever reason. You can support your local community by exploring different areas and helping the local economy. Amazon orders can wait.

Educate Yourself
Although we have all experienced hardships, most of us do not understand what it feels like to be judged by the color of our skin. If you somehow did not pay attention in history class, get on the internet and do your own research. Read about oppression, read about slavery. This should be an issue that was squashed YEAR ago, but so many men, women, and children are dealing with it every single day.
Not only is educating yourself going to make you a better person, but you will understand why standing up for everyone is more important than ever. Keep an eye on your local news and what is going on in the world around you. The time to pretend like nothing is happening is gone. If you are looking for more ways that you can help,

Volunteer, Donate, Be A Voice
Violence, Racism, Oppression all need to end. We claim to be a country of free people, but individuals such as George Floyd are not. If you can, you need to volunteer at local shelters, clean-up initiatives, marches, and donate to make sure we finally put an end to the racial injustice in this country. Giving your time is a great way to support your local community.
If you are someone who is a fellow blogger or has some influence on a social media site, make sure you are letting your voice be heard. The worst thing we can do is pretend it is not happening when millions of lives are in danger every single day.
