5 Tips To Start Achieving Goals and Change Your Life

The shine has worn off the first of the year, and we are all starting to settle down into everyday life. Believe it or not, but this is the most dangerous time of the year! We can get complacent, unmotivated, and let things start to be tossed to the back burner. Personally, I still have a lot of goals that I want to achieve this year, and I’m sure that you have some as well! If you’re looking for that jump of motivation right now, here are some tips to help you start achieving goals!

achieving goals

1. Accountability

Sometimes the biggest struggle in achieving goals is just making sure they actually get done! Holding yourself accountable sometimes isn’t fun, but it is one of the larger steps to adulthood. Accountability can come in a variety of ways. For me, I have set a schedule for the blog. I know that I want to post every other day, and I keep a schedule that lets me know if my post is ready to go, or if I have something I need to add to it.

If you are not great with holding yourself accountable, find some friends! I know quite a few people that have accountability partners for fitness, so why not for achieving goals together? I have a great group of girls that I know who are also bloggers, and it is great motivation to keep blogging! They let me know what they think of my content, and help me stay on track!

2. Make a plan

A quick fun story: When my cousin was little, he always had to have a plan. If we were at Disney World, he would wake me up and start asking me what the plan was for the day. What we were riding first, what I was going to have for lunch. You get the idea! I tell my aunt that he probably gets that from me, I love a good plan!

If you think about it, a plan could be considered your accountability partner! I know what topics I’m going to write about, and I just keep them in a journal that I can plan the post on. I create an outline, have keywords that I want to insert, and an estimated date for the post to go up. It isn’t a difficult plan, but it is effective.

3. Stop being so negative

When I look back on times when I wasn’t achieving goals, it was mostly because I was miserably sad. Mental health is no joke, and we all suffer from it. Once I realized what was causing those feelings, I worked towards cutting them out of my life. I wrote a post about how I take negativity out of my life, so if you’re looking for a few tips on that, check this post here!

4. Create SMART goals

I’ve mentioned SMART goals a few times on the blog, mainly because I LOVE THEM. SMART goals are specific, measurable, attainable, relatable, and time-bound. Once again, these can go back to helping you become more accountable when it comes to achieving goals. If you’re looking to grow your Instagram, you could create a goal of reaching 2000 followers in 3 months. You know when this goal ends, and you can find a pace that works for you.

If you want to find out more information about SMART goals, then check out more information here. I promise, marketing can be fun!

5. Stop waiting for perfection

I’m a slight perfectionist, but I’ve gotten better over time. I used to wait until everything was exactly how I wanted it, but a lot of things have never happened because of it. The best thing about creating content is that nothing is ever going to be perfect. There is always something that you’ll want to change, or someone who is doing something better than you. At the end of the day, none of this really matters.

If you have an idea, just do it. If you want to start achieving goals, then just start! Even if you are afraid that something isn’t ready, you can always work on it at a later time. The most difficult part is just putting yourself out there, and you can do it, I promise!
