Social media mistakes that you’re probably making

When it comes to social media, we all want to grow and build a community, right? If you aren’t seeing any change in your reach, then you might be making one of a few social media mistakes that can seriously keep you from enjoying the platform!

You’re not giving someone a reason to want to follow you!

How many people do you think are on social media? While I have no I idea what that number might be, but I can assure you it is high! One of the biggest social media mistakes that creators fall into is not giving someone a reason to want to follow them.

The good news is that it is a problem that is easily fixed. While I have mentioned that I don’t find niches all that vital when it comes to blogging, social media is different. Showing someone what you’re about, and why they should follow you will get you far!

For example, if you’re a travel blogger then you should share your travels on social media. Also, let me know your IG name so I can follow you, I love travel Instagrams! Same goes for fashion and beauty bloggers. Instagram is a lot about visuals, so you want someone to be able to look at your feed and know who you are.

If you’re trying to figure out why people follow you, then do a quick self-audit of your Instagram. See what photos have the most engagement, or if you have a business account, then you can actually see how many people followed you based on certain photos.

Your photos are way overedited!

This is something I have disliked since day one with Instagram. If you’re going to take a picture of something, your audience needs to be able to identify what it is. Especially if it is something like clothes or beauty products!

I recently shared my editing process in a post, and you can check it out here! A few quick tips are to get your photos as close to perfect as possible when you’re shooting them. You should be editing as little as you possibly can!

You’re not being yourself

Hi, it is your resident blogger using the word authenticity again. While it is kind of being forced down our throats, it is one of the biggest social media mistakes people make. We all know that one large group of girls who all kind of look alike, take the same photos, and go on the same vacations.

While their hair might look great all the time, what is making them different than other people? Make sure you’re showing who you really are! It makes people feel like they know you, and it also makes you relatable!

If you’re curious about the importance of authenticity, then you should check out this post!
