So, you have decided to take the plunge for a self love journey. That’s great! There is so much content out there for you to explore, but how much is too much? Chances are, you have already made this self love mistake and you don’t even realize it! Let’s talk about what this mistake is and how you can avoid it going forward.

How are You Absorbing Content?
Before I get into the details, let’s first talk about where you are getting your self love information and how you are absorbing it. Most of us are reading blogs, taking courses, watching Youtube videos, or even listening to podcasts. The point is, content is everywhere.
Just because there is new content coming out daily, that does not mean that you need to absorb it. You should pick and choose what you feel is resonating with you on a particular day. There may be times when you feel nothing from a meditation, and then that same meditation can change your life another day.
Find a way to absorb content that feels the best for you. Just because your best friend loves podcasts, you do not have to. Something that I have come into recently is overcoming the negative feelings I had around paying for self love content. Not only do courses and programs feel more focused, but they are typically way more informative!
So, What is the Self Love Mistake I am Making?
The biggest self love mistake that you can make is to constantly be looking for the next best thing. The truth is, there is nothing revolutionary or groundbreaking that can change your life. Chances are something you have already read is exactly what you need. You just might not have needed it right then.
You should never be afraid to revisit a meditation or practice that you have done or read in the past. We are all constantly changing and even our vibration is constantly changing. There may be a meditation that you did last year that is more meaningful to you right now.
Think about it like we are back to school! When you were first learning algebra, did you struggle with it at first? Most of us do not absorb everything from a self love lesson the first time. It takes our minds more than one exposure to hear, absorb, and take action on particular topics.
How Can You Avoid This Mistake?
Honestly, this is pretty easy. Your first and most important step is to find content that you connect with. Not what your friend connects with, not what you think is cool, and not from someone with the most followers. This is going to be a long process, so you might as well buckle in. You are going to have to absorb a lot of content to find ideas, theories, and even creators that you resonate with. This is an important time to mention that not everyone is on the same vibration as you.
Once you find what you want to work on, or who you want to go on this journey with, you can begin. You should be able to identify what your body and mind are needing at any given time. Sometimes that can be help clarifying your purpose or mindset. Other times, that may be stress and anxiety management. Certain self love practices are better suited to different times in your life.
If you find content that you feel is aligned with you, find a way to save that. If it is a video, podcast, blog post, or social media post, save the link to a master file on your computer or phone. That way you can make sure to revisit content that you enjoy or vibe with. There are certain videos and meditations that I have revisited numerous times because of how effective they are! Just make sure you are connecting with content, not just watching or reading it!
