As we approach it officially being winter, I always like to create a productive routine that I can follow. I know so many of us struggle with being productive during the cooler months. The cold weather makes us want to curl up with a blanket, and the sun going down makes us feel tired so early. If you are struggling to find your motivation, here is a look at my productive winter morning routine that you can use too!
Wake Up Early
Although the sun may not be rising early, that does not mean that you can’t! I have found that getting up early just gives me so much more time during the day. Most of us are more productive during the morning anyway, so why not take advantage of it. If you are still heading into work, try to get up an hour earlier than normal. You will have time to really create a great routine for yourself as well as feel more awake and ready for work.
create a Morning Beauty Ritual
This is one of my favorite parts of my productive winter morning routine! Cooler weather can be really harsh on our skin. Especially if you have your heat turned on or are taking hot baths at night. Make sure you wake up and give your face a nice wash, use a good moisturizer, and even use your beauty tools if you have any. If you have some extra time, do a face mask or take the time to fix up your hair or perfect your makeup!
Wait to Check Your Electronic Devices
I know that we all want to see how our latest post performed on Instagram, but it can honestly wait. Take some time for yourself in the morning to just start your day grounded. Tell yourself that you won’t check your phone until breakfast or after your beauty routine. Waiting to check your phone gives you more time to actually enjoy your slow morning before feeling like you need to get busy.
Set aside time to journal or meditate
Journaling is one of the best things you can do for a productive winter morning routine. You can express any thoughts or feelings that may be acting as mental blocks. I love to write in my gratitude journal and express what I am grateful for. If I have time, I also love to do a quick morning meditation just to set the tone for the rest of your day.
Create a To-Do List for the rest of your day
If you are anything like me, then you are probably a list maker. I make lists for just about everything! If you have a lot of stuff to get done during the day, creating a list can help you stay on track and manage your time. On days where I don’t make a list there is always something that I end up forgetting. Creating a list can also be a great way to help you time-block your day if that is something you practice!
make sure you stay hydrated and fed
Even though we are trying to be productive and get everything done, we need to remember to take care of ourselves too. Take the time to make your own breakfast if you have time each morning. If not, maybe you can meal prep breakfasts throughout the week, or you can even find a healthy snack that you can stick in your bag. I also highly suggest keeping a water bottle with you at all times. If the water is available for you to drink, you are going to drink more water than you may think!
