The constant struggle of trying to find who you really are online

The internet can be a fun place, but it can also be the most annoying thing ever! Most bloggers will tell you that as long as you’re being yourself, that is all you need to do. Even I have said that before! The problem is, what if you’re forcing yourself to be a certain way? I’ve noticed this intense pressure that I have placed on myself to be the best version of myself. If you think that you’re struggling to be yourself as a content creator, then you can probably relate to the online struggle.

The Instagram struggle

I’ve been SO ANNOYED with Instagram lately! I know that we can all relate this right now. It seems like no matter what we do, we just cannot grow, right? It seems like the platform has almost plateaued for a second, and it is making the whole process really disheartening. I’m still currently on vacation, and I have just not wanted to write long captions on my Instagram posts which goes against what I usually do. The online struggle shouldn’t be transferred over into my everyday life.

If I’m being honest, I have found SO MUCH MORE JOY out of just posting photos and leaving a few words about the photo or about my day. I think it is more important that we live in the real world than online, and I have made a full switch to just using social media in the way that I used it prior to blogging. Post what I like, don’t take it too seriously, and have fun.

The content creation struggle

Most bloggers say that if you want to be successful, you have to do “xyz”. I have never been one to put myself into a box, and I’m definitely not going to start now. Let me first start by stating that everyone’s level of success is totally different. When I first started blogging, I decided that beauty blogging was the way for me to go, and that’s what I did. Eventually, I realized I wasn’t getting any enjoyment out of it. When I started this blog, I knew that I had to change directions.

If you aren’t enjoying what you’re writing about, or if you find yourself running out of ideas, then it might be time to make a change. Additionally, if you want to add something to your blog, just make a category and start writing it. While having a focus is definitely going to attract readers and create a better flow, I don’t like to be limited in any creative way. Basically, just do you girl, write what you want, create what you want, and don’t worry about the online struggle. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

My thoughts are just be yourself, write what you want and just have fun with your blog.
