What you should be doing when Instagram slows down

If you’re a love of all things digital, then you probably know that Instagram is not the most reliable platform. There have been so many days when I go to upload and it simply won’t work. Have a quick hop over to Twitter, and I see that it isn’t just me and get some relief. When Instagram slows down, what can we do to keep going?

Even when Instagram is up and running, it seems like users just cannot get ahead of the game. While you can really never beat the algorithm, there are a few things that you can do to help you understand your Instagram account more, as well have some positive growth even in the dark times.

Try doing a self-audit

What I mean by this is take the time to really look at your Instagram account. This is a great time to have a quick look at your Instagram bio to see if it needs any tweaking. I recently wrote an entire post about how to create the perfect Instagram bio that you might want to check out!

Next, take a look at who you’re following and who is 1. Are you following people that bring you joy, or people that inspire you? If not, then it might be time to use that unfollow button real quick!

In the same sense, if you’re struggling with engagement, then going through who is following you is a must! It is always a great idea to remove bot and ghost accounts. By removing these useless accounts, it will automatically improve your engagement rate!

Lastly, take a look at your photos and see what is resonating with your audience. If you post a lot of outfit of the day pictures and get a great response, but share one about a salad and get nothing, then you know what your audience likes which can save a lot of time!

Try switching up your hashtags

Hashtags are such an important part of Instagram, but wow, is anyone else struggling with them right now? I’ve noticed that tags that were working for me are getting the same results anymore. I’ve been on a mission to find new hashtags that are working for me.

I’ve noticed myself doing this more when Instagram slows down. It is an easy way to make sure that you’re making an effort for your growth.

If you’re interested in the strategies I’ve been using to find new hashtags, check out this new post! Something else to consider is that you might be using banned hashtag. This can cause your posts to not be seen, and Instagram isn’t a fan of them.

It’s not your fault

It almost seems like that Instagram doesn’t want us to succeed or grow. If you have been struggling with growth, engagement, whatever, just know that it most likely isn’t you. Even users who have had amazing success with Instagram have been talking about their struggles.

All you can do is be yourself when it comes to social media. While we all think the platform is against us, at the end of the day, they are just a business too. I think there are steps that they are taking which focus more on the user instead of numbers, and I’m excited to see where they take it from here!
