The Importance of Positive Self Talk to Uplevel Your Life
I’m not going to lie, I talk to myself more often than a person should. Half of it is because I’m just strange, and the other half of it is because my dogs care about what I have to say. On a real note though, a lot of us forget just how important positive self talk can be to our mental health. If you are struggling to find positive in every day, keep reading.

It’s More Than Just A Trend
There are some people out there who think that self-love as a whole is just a trend. I’m here to report that it is not. The way that you speak to yourself is going to have an impact on your mind and body. Even the words you choose to use can help or hurt you.
Positive self talk is part of many therapy programs for everything from addiction to depression. My therapist had me write down a positive thing about myself every day, and I had to repeat it ten times before I fell asleep. Although I don’t see my therapist anymore, it is still something I do.
The World is Hard Enough
Every single day I am thankful that social media was not a “thing” when I was younger. Although we still dealt with struggles back then, I think most of us agree that things were just a lot easier! You probably have enough people making you feel like you aren’t doing something right. There is no reason why you should be adding to that stress.
You don’t have to be positive patty all of the time. We all have good days and bad days, it is just part of life. Speaking to yourself in a positive manner can also help you achieve your goals. If you tell yourself every day that you are going to reach a certain goal, then you are more likely to work harder for it.
Make it Part of Your Daily Routine
If this is something you want to add to your life, it is much easier than you think. You don’t have to write down something every day. It is something that you can just say to yourself throughout the day. I also like the idea of changing the words you use every day. Instead of saying I wish or want, say I will or am.

I’m with you, friend! Things were a lot easier back in the day. It’s amazing how we say things to ourselves that we would actually never say to others, because the words are so mean sometimes!

Positive talk is something I’m trying to implement in my everyday life in 2020, it’s something I don’t think we are very good at most of the time as negative talk is more expected. Especially because of social media etc. If we all take a step back and focus on the positive sides of life we would all do better x

Lucy PennI’m definitely guilty of being pretty bad about it in the past, hopefully we can all be better this year!

I think even not talking about yourself negatively helps – doesn’t have to be constant keep-me-ups. I stopped complaining so much and it made me and the people around me feel a lot better

Ella JonesSo true! I always think about that study where one plant had positive speech and one had negative and how sad the negative plant looked.
