How I’m Staying Warm In The New Year

*This post contains affiliate links*

The New Year has come and gone, but the cold weather is still here (luckily!). Cold weather fashion is one of my favorite things, and I’m all about finding great pieces in my wardrobe that are perfect for staying warm in the cooler months. Here are a few of my must-haves!

staying warm

Pick Up Some Basic Layers!

Layers are a serious must-have for staying warm in the winter. Not only can you reuse them all year round, but they are often much more affordable than you may think. I love picking up basics from stores such as Nasty Gal for cheaper items that I may not wear all of the time but still need. Reformation is my go-to for basics that will last. Their jeans are seriously perfect if you haven’t tried them.

I choose to pick up layers in neutral colors such as tan, black, and white. Mainly because they fit into my wardrobe the best, and secondly because I’m boring and that is what I like! You can also find great basics in pops of color if you are a color fan.

Investing in Sweaters

I used to be a huge fan of just picking up cheap sweaters, and honestly, I still am at times. If there is something super trendy, I’ll head to Nasty Gal or Forever 21 to pick up a sweater, and sometimes they are great quality. I still have most of my Forever 21 sweaters from last year, and I still wear them.

This year I began investing in sweaters for my wardrobe. Not only are they obviously higher quality than lower-priced items, but they will last longer. You don’t have to spend a ton of money to invest in great sweaters. If you shop at stores such as Revolve during the summer, you can find $200 sweaters for under $40! Some of my most-worn sweaters this year are ones I picked up during summer!

Cold Weather Accessories are a Must

If you don’t already know, I live in the South so it doesn’t get that cold. With that being said, I still have quite a few favorites that keep me warm. I’ve always been a fan of a statement glove, and a fun winter hat. They are usually stashed away in a suitcase since I don’t really use them! What I do use are scarves. I picked up this scarf from Amazon a few months ago and it has been a staple this winter!

I’ve heard so many great things about Reformation, I’d love to try that brand! I also love those gloves, I have a similar pair myself xx

I’ve been loving wearing my bobble hat recently – good for covering a bad hair day too

So true! I was at Disney last week and had to wear one! I haven’t even had to wear one where I live, it was wild!

You are so right! Better invest in a good sweater that stays for years, than just in one that you only wear for one or two seasons.

This is good advice! Although it isn’t very cold over winter here (we never get snow) I think that cosy knits are a must have and my jeans get worn a lot in the colder months too! 🙂

Hope that you are having a lovely weekend 🙂

It’s not terribly cold here either, we rarely get snow, but we often get a few weeks of really cold weather!

They are a little more expensive, but the quality and variety make up for it!
