Dry skin is one of the serious downsides of winter. Warm baths, harsh heat, and cold breezes can really take a toll on our skin, and sometimes we spend all winter trying to fight it off. If you deal with dry skin this time of year, then here is everything that I use to keep my skin soft and hydrated during the cooler months!
Find a good moisturizer!
A moisturizer is not only important in the wintertime, but they are important all year round! If you have been around here for a while, then you know all about my obsession with the Tatcha Water Cream as my facial moisturizer. It never irritates my skin, gives me intense hydration, and is great for dry skin in both cooler and warmer weather. Although it is a little more expensive, it really is worth it, and you need such a tiny amount.
Your body needs to be moisturized too! Even though most of us are stuffed into fleece-lined tights and sweaters, you need to make sure that you are moisturizing your body. This is really important if you are someone who loves baths like I am. I just pick up lotions from Bath & Body Works and keep them around the house. They come in a ton of scents as well which is great!
Make sure you’re drinking enough water
Water is essential to fight off dry skin! Sometimes it can seem impossible to drink as much water as we need to. If you have the heat turned on right now, drink some water! We keep reusable bottles around the house all the time. We carry them around when we travel, and use them at home too. It is a great way to make sure we are staying hydrated. You can pick up some cute bottles at Target for super cheap! If you cannot stand the taste, try adding a flavor like lemon to your water.
Get some hydrating makeup!
I naturally have dry skin, and winter is hard on me! Over the past few weeks, I have been working on adding more hydrating products into my routine. The first step I took was to find a foundation that had more moisturizing properties to it. It Cosmetics CC+ Illumination not only has SPF, but it has great coverage and a dewy finish! Next, I switched up my powder highlighter for a liquid one like the Tom Ford Soleil Neige Glow Drops are beautiful!
You also want to make sure you are keeping your lips hydrated as well! The Aquaphor ointment is something we always have around the house, and it is perfect to treat dry lips. I always keep the Laneige Lip Glowly Balm in my handbag at all times! I also love the Dior Lip Glows and Stellar Shines because they hydrate so well, and give a gorgeous color on the lips!
