The older I have become, the more I realized that people just do not love cold weather the way I do, shocking! The truth is, a lot of us suffer during the winter because we don’t like the cold, or we are not taking care of our skin and health during the cold. Here are four tips that I use every single winter to combat winter dryness!
Get Yourself a Humidifier
Oh my gosh! If you do not already have a humidifier, what are you even doing? I use my humidifier every single night. Not only does it have a significant impact on how my skin looks and feels, but it helps keep my headaches and sinus issues down to an absolute minimum.
With that being said, it is important to note that one single humidifier or using it one night a week is enough to really make a difference. It just does not put out enough humidity into the area after just a few hours. I find that continued usage is really what works the best for me personally. I have this humidifier and I love it!
Use Hydrating products
Yes, even what you are using topically on your skin and face can make sure that you avoid the dreaded winter dryness! Last year I changed my face wash to the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser and I swear it has doubled the hydration of my skin. I also love the Belief Aqua Bomb to add to the hydration of my skin as well.
Don’t forget about your body! I love to do a milk bath every now and again to add hydration to my skin. You should also be exfoliating on the regular! If you are not exfoliating prior to lotion or oils, you are basically wasting your time. Try and find hydrating shower washes, soaps, and intense lotions to make sure you are avoiding the winter dryness!
Make Sure You are Drinking Enough Water
I mean, you should already be drinking as much water as your body needs per day. You would be shocked by how many people just avoid water altogether. Drinking water doesn’t have to be hard! Simply keep a water bottle with you throughout the day for when you get thirsty. You can also have lemon water in the mornings to give yourself a boost!
Dress According to your location!
When I was younger, I was so guilty of simply not dressing the way that I should. If you live in a cooler climate, make sure you are wearing layers and accessories that ares suitable to your weather needs. I can’t count the amount of times I have gone to NYC and had crazy dry skin from not protecting my skin the way that I should have.
While most of us are not traveling anywhere right now, dressing accordingly at your house counts too. Keep your thermostat at a suitable temperature for your home, don’t crank up the heat super high or super low. Extreme heat in your home can contribute to winter dryness quicker than you think!

Oh my goodness, the cold weather has definitely left my skin a lot dryer than normal. We use our humidifier daily and have to clean it once a week. So much work but otherwise we’d have crocodile skin! I do need to be better about drinking more water, thank you for the tips!

I’m afraid I’m not a fan of winter. I just freeze almost all the time and hate being cold, haha. I have a humidifier too and it is so helpful! I need to work on drinking more water though.
