It is kind of shocking how many creators are relying on social media platforms as a way to sustain their content and business. The scary thing about that is none of us own those platforms, so what happens if they just crash one day? Here are some reasons why your blog is more important than ever!
A blog is an amazing creative outlet!
I started my blog in a pretty dark place. I had just been laid off at work, I was recovering from a horrific relationship, and my self-esteem couldn’t have been any lower. That was three years ago a few months back, and I can say that my blog has been such a positive aspect of my life. Not only does it allow me to basically have a running portfolio of work I have done, but it also has allowed me to find my own creative path. I can create whatever I want and share it. It’s great for self-worth and just keeping your motivation up!
It could lead you into a career one day!
Before I started blogging, I fully had no idea what I actually wanted to do. Through blogging, I was able to figure out that I actually loved marketing, and that it was the path that I wanted to take. I have also been able to do quite a bit of freelance work over time as well. In reality, being a full-time blogger is a lot of work, but there are some seriously inspirational ladies out there who are killing it. If that is something you want, make that goal, and put it into the universe.
You cannot control social media
The number one reason to have your own blog is so that you’re content is protected. We have all seen Instagram go down lately, so your blog is more important than ever if you’re trying to make it a career. While we are free to create content, what happens if Instagram is just erased one day, or if someone completely hijacks your profile and you never get it back? With blogging, you own your content, you have full power to your website, and you can make it however you want it to be. There is definitely an investment cost that comes with blogging, but it will pay off in the end.
