So, I think I have made it pretty clear on my blog that self-care is something that is very important to me. Not only have I struggled with mental health for the majority of my life, but it has actually started to impact my daily life. A few months back, I tried out an Apple Watch during some panic episodes. Flash forward a few months, and I am the proud owner of one. Let’s talk about how I use my Apple Watch for self-care!
*quick note, I have the Apple Watch Series 6*
This is definitely one of my favorite apps to use on my Apple Watch. If I ever feel anxiety coming on, or just want to relax for a moment, I can open this up and have a short or long mini meditation. It has a little visual that you bring along with. It also keeps track of how long you meditate each day, and what your BPM is.
Heart Rate Monitoring
As someone who deals with SVT every day, my heart rate is something that I always try and keep an eye on. Instead of measuring it with my finger the old fashioned way, my watch keeps track of it throughout the day. I can open the app on my watch or phone at any point to check on how my heart is feeling. In terms of how I use my Apple Watch for self care, this is a clear signal of when I need to slow down and rest.
Blood Oxygen Tracking
This is definitely one of the most interesting apps on the Apple Watch that I use for self-care. Whenever I am feeling unwell, I will open this up and take a quick look at my blood oxygen levels. Considering I have times where I feel severely lightheaded, it can help signal if an episode is coming or not. This feature is exclusively on the Apple Watch Series 6.
Another of my favorite apps to use on a daily basis is the ECG app. At least once per day, I like to record my heart rate to get an idea of where I am health-wise. I love that is recorded on my phone so that I can look anytime I need to. It is also great because I can see how I was feeling on a certain day if I end up having any issues or just a bad day in general.
