How to get amazing skin while you sleep

Our skin can be one of the most difficult parts of our beauty routine! Not only do we have to worry about all of the pollutants in the air, but sometimes it has a mind of its’ own. I’m sharing my four tips that help me have amazing skin, and most of them happen while we are snoozing!

Change your pillowcase

If you knew how dirty pillowcases get, you would be terrified! Not only are there dirt particles trapped inside the actual pillow that we have no control over, but the case catches everything! From dry skin that flakes off during our sleep, sweating at night, and dirt and oil from our hair. You name it, it’s on your pillowcase and prevents you from having amazing skin. You should be washing your pillowcases at least once per week. If you deal with acne, then it needs to be more frequent than that!

Purchase a humidifier

Listen, winter is hard on all of us. A humidifier is something that I’ve always had to have ever since I was little. This is mainly due to gas heat seriously drying out my sinuses, but there is also another benefit to it as well! A humidifier can help keep your skin hydrated. Don’t get too excited, it is almost impossible for one humidifier to keep your entire house or apartment hydrated. A little bit is better than nothing, and your sinuses are going to thank you as well. I just use distilled water in mine, but feel free to add essential oils if you’re into it! In addition to moisturizing the air, make sure you are drinking enough water! You can’t even imagine how important drinking a good amount of water is!

Invest in your skincare

If you know me at all, this will come as no surprise to you. I have a serious addiction to skincare, and I don’t think I can ever get enough. First off, a great skincare routine is one of the biggest tips to having amazing skin. The ordinary is an amazing place to get some high-quality affordable skincare. In addition, I love the Summer Fridays masks, and I love slathering on a good layer right before bed. It leaves my skin glowing, nourished, and youthful. Don’t forget to rest

If we drain ourselves, our skin can start looking less than perfect. We all know how important it is to rest, but we don’t always focus on that. I’m totally guilty of this, and I have to remind myself to get off of the computer! I mentioned meditation in a previous post, and it has tremendously improved the quality of sleep I get every single night. Even a really great pillow can make all of the difference. Even if you feel like you don’t have enough time, there is always time to rest!
