How I gained 1000 Instagram followers in 1 month

When I’m writing this, it has actually been over a month, from the middle of December to the middle of January, I was able to gain 1000 Instagram followers. I had completely deleted my old Instagram to just have a fresh start. You can read that post here to find out exactly why I did that, and some things that I learned! As much as I don’t want to say Instagram is a big deal in the blogging world, I think we all know it is by now.

I’m sharing the real tactics that I used to actually grow my previous account to 1000 followers. No annoying methods, no fake accounts, there is seriously no tricks in this post at all. If you’re having issues growing your following, or just looking for some new ideas for your Instagram strategy, then let’s get started!

Engage to grow, seriously.

I know that you’ve probably heard this around one million times, but it is really the best way. Throughout my day, I simply make time to engage with accounts that I follow. This usually ends up being about a solid hour per day, but most of the time it is way more than that. Since engagement is something that I want from others, why on Earth wouldn’t I be sharing the love? Also, Instagram is weird, and they are more likely to push your content toward new users via the explore page if you spend more time on the app. I know, could they make it any more difficult for us?

Engaging with hashtags

This is probably my number one tip! It is one tip that I had not been doing in my previous account, and I’ve seen so much more growth with this account. Growth to the tune of 1000 Instagram followers! This is one thing that Instagram has made it easier for us to do. With the new feature that allows you to follow hashtags that you love. I’ve followed so many hashtags, and it’s been a great way of finding new people to follow as well.

Following hashtags will have images in your feed that fall under it. You don’t have to be following the user, and it will just show you the image. I make sure to interact with these hashtags on a daily basis. Once again, a weird Instagram tactic I’ve seen floating around on the Internet. Apparently (take this with a grain of salt!) if you interact with a hashtag often, or at least the top images, Instagram is more likely to show an image with that hashtag to new users.

Speaking of engagement, Facebook groups!

Some see this as cheating, and some see it as support. Most of the groups I belong to are strictly support groups. Not only do they include daily threads, but it is a place where you can get advice on questions regarding your blog or social media. People share tips that they have learned, and you can ask questions that you literally cannot find anywhere else. I’ve been able to connect with so many amazing bloggers through these groups, and it has been amazing. That friendship has trickled down to almost every social media platform, and even on a personal level.

1000 Instagram followers

How hashtags helped me grow to 1000 followers on Instagram

Yep, I’m about to share another annoying aspect of Instagram. As of lately, using the same hashtags over and over again could be seen as spam according to Instagram. This could result in even less of your followers seeing your content, and a serious risk of no one new seeing it either. A huge part of growing to 1000 Instagram followers was my rotating my hashtags.

I’ve talked about the Tailwind Hashtag Finder, so I won’t hop up on my soapbox again. This has helped me create an amazing strategy though. In the note section of my phone, I keep sets of hashtags. Not only do they have different hashtags in them, but I also have niche-related sets as well. If I’m posting about beauty on Instagram, then I don’t need to be using a marketing set. It’s made the posting process so much easier, and I’ve seen a great response from hashtags via my insights. I’ve created a list of ALL of the hashtags that I have used! broken down by niche, and even engagement level! Sign up below to get them delivered straight to your inbox!

I’m part of a travel engagement group and use also a hashtag. Now, that I’ve read your post, I’m wondering if to use the hashtag😓! I will search for other hashtags related to travel to see if my no of followers will change! Thank you for the tips!

You’re so welcome, hashtags are pretty much one of the only ways to grow on IG now, so find some that are related to your niche!
